Sausage Casserole

Butter a baking dish about 9 x 11 ( I used and oval shape for visual interest)
Layer the ingredients…
8 pieces bread cubed
1- and 1/2-pounds Jones sausage sauteed
1 red onion chopped and caramelized.
8 ounces of canned sliced mushrooms drained
8 ounces of shredded Cheddar cheese
8 ounces shredded Swiss cheese
Beat together…
7 eggs
1 cup half and half
3/4 cup Whole Milk
2 tablespoons prepared mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon thyme
Pour over layers …
Refrigerate for at least 6 hours
Remove from fridge…
Stand at room temperature for 1 hour
Bake…
for 35 - 40 minutes. Cool 15 minutes and serve alone or with salad.
